About Mining Magazine

Mining has been developed to keep you up-to-date with all of the latest news, discussions, innovation and projects in the Australian mining sector. Our vision is that this hub will arm decision makers all over Australia with the critical information they need to be ahead of technologies and trends to improve operations and compete in an international market.

Our role in the industry

As we move into the 2020s, the world is changing. We are moving towards having a reduced reliance on coal for energy production, and there is pressure on traditionally strong export markets for minerals like iron ore.

But on the flipside, the global thirst for technology like smartphones, computers, solar panels, batteries and electric vehicles is growing at an exponential rate; and Australia has significant deposits of the critical mineral resources required to build these products.

Additionally, Australia is already a world leader in the export of resources, with a well-developed industry that is able to supply countries with high-quality, ethically-sourced minerals using environmentally sustainable practices.

Australia’s mining industry is on the cusp of significant change; but with great change comes great opportunity. And throughout this change, Mining is committed to sharing the latest developments, news, technologies and thinking that will propel our industry forward to continue to be a leader on the global critical resources stage.

Mining Editor – Rebecca Todesco

Mining is edited by Rebecca Todesco, an experienced journalist, editor, writer and content creator. Before becoming editor of Mining, Rebecca was the assistant editor of Mining and Pump Industry, and she has written extensively for their sister publications Council, Energy and Utility.

Rebecca has developed a keen interest in all aspects of mining and enjoys learning about the work involved in supplying Australia, and the world, with the crucial minerals and elements that allow societies to function, from coal and gas for energy, to the critical minerals needed to manufacture technology.

She has a particular interest in exploring the future of the industry, its digitisation, and how it can become more sustainable, as well as telling stories of diversity in the industry. She is keen to help Mining Magazine reach new heights in her role as editor.

Rebecca has a background in content creation, proofreading and editing, and has written for magazines, blogs and online news sites, both overseas and in Australia. Rebecca prides herself on her ability to use the skills she developed from this experience to work with people in the mining sector to create content that is engaging and relevant.

Mining – published by Monkey Media

Mining is published by Monkey Media, one of Australia’s leading trade publishers in the energy, utility and infrastructure sectors. In addition to Mining, Monkey Media also publishes Utility, Infrastructure, Energy, Pump Industry and Council magazines. Monkey Media is also the organiser of highly regarded industry events including Digital Utilities, Critical Infrastructure and Smart Cities.

While the way the world communicates has changed rapidly over the last 20 years, the need for tailored, quality industry information has not. At the core of Monkey Media is a team of editors, journalists and designers with in-depth knowledge of the industries we work in, and an ability to put that expertise to work to create high-quality, engaging and thought-provoking content. Monkey Media’s growth over the past few years has bucked the trend of most media companies, and in 2018 we were listed in the Australian Financial Review’s Fast 100.
