The Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) has announced the finalists for its prestigious industry awards ahead of a presentation dinner in December.
AEMC Chief Executive Officer, Warren Pearce, congratulated the category finalists for the awards.
“I would like to acknowledge and congratulate all the companies and individuals who nominated for these awards, and recognise those who have been selected as finalists,” Mr Pearce said.
“Once again we had a high calibre of entrants into the six categories and we look forward to celebrating with everyone at the presentation ceremony next month.”
The AMEC Prospector Award recognises an individual that has made a significant contribution to exploration, and this year there are three finalists – David Richards and Jamie Day for the Kathleen Valley Lithium and Tantalum Deposit, Dr Kevin Frost and Morgan Frejabise for the Julimar Project, and Brad Cox and Chris Raymond for the Constellation deposit.
The finalists for the AMEC Community Contribution Award include: Australian Potash, Oz Minerals, Image Resources, and Atlas Iron. The winner will demonstrate a commitment to building partnerships that provide sustainable and enduring benefits to surrounding communities.
The AMEC Environment Award recognises the work of a company to develop innovative methods to achieve better long-term environmental outcomes, and the finalists in this category are Deepcore Drilling, IGO Limited and EQ Resources.
Recognising excellence in journalism covering the Australian mineral exploration and mining industry, and this year’s finalists in AMEC Media Award are Michelle Stanley (ABC), Wally Graham (Resources Roadhouse), Rachel Puppazoni (ABC News) and Matt McKenzie (WA Business News).
Finalists for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Empowerment Award are IGO Limited, Fortescue Metals Group and Fenix Resources, and the Diversity and Inclusion Award finalists are Bellevue Gold, Mineral Resources, Ravenswood Gold, and McCullough Robertson.
The winner of each category will be announced at the upcoming AMEC Awards Dinner on Thursday 8 December at Optus Stadium.
