A record number of attendees are expected to attend the 24th Annual Geoscience Exploration Seminar (AGES) in Alice Springs on 18-19 April 2023.
AGES is the Northern Territory Government’s flagship exploration event – a technical conference highlighting the latest geological and exploration findings on the Territory’s resource potential.
Northern Territory Minister for Mining and Industry, Nicole Manison, said, “AGES is the Northern Territory Government’s flagship exploration event. Currently 19 mining projects are working towards a Final Investment Decision in the Territory with a combined value of over $8.3 billion and the potential to create nearly 6,000 construction jobs.
“The Northern Territory Government is advancing the Territory’s resources industry to achieve a $40 billion economy by 2030, and is providing ongoing funding programs to support resource exploration through the Resourcing the Territory initiative.
“The Northern Territory is underexplored for critical minerals and the demand for these minerals is only expected to grow to support renewable energy, battery storage and high-technology industries.”
The AGES program will include talks from the Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) and its partners, including Geoscience Australia, on the latest findings from pre-competitive geoscience programs in the Territory.
This also includes presentations from exploration companies on the latest results and exploration concepts in the Northern Territory.
The seminar is part of a broader plan to attract and support investment in the Territory, and is further supported by the Northern Territory Government’s Resourcing the Territory funding initiative of $9.5 million per year, an ongoing commitment to supporting the exploration industry.
To promote the Territory’s critical minerals potential, NTGS has released Critical Minerals in the Northern Territory 2023 documenting the current resource endowment and emerging exploration potential for critical minerals in the Territory.
AGES is held in conjunction with the Alice Springs Mining Services Expo, which provides business development opportunities for Territory businesses to showcase their products, services and local capabilities to support exploration and mining ventures.
