With a recent major supply contract with an ASX20 miner and growing partnerships with international energy equipment manufacturers, Australian Power Equipment (APE) is growing at pace.

Co-founded by business strategist Abby Crawford and veteran electrical engineer Andrew Cockbain during the COVID-19 pandemic, APE has become a trusted partner in the resources and energy sector, known for its agility, problem-solving expertise, and sustainability-focused operations.

No stranger to the challenges of the mining industry, Crawford and Cockbain have become masters of taking even the most impossible requests in their stride – and delivering.

Recently, a Tier-1 miner turned to APE when it needed a piece of cruicial equipment delivered in a timeframe previously unheard of for the industry. Crawford and Cockbain had the equipment on a plane from Singapore and en route to the site within two days.

“The client rang to find out where it was – the part was already installed at the mine. I think the purchase order turned up three months later,” Cockbain said.

“When we visited their head office about six people came in the room and said, ‘these are the ones that got us out of trouble’.”

Another recent rescue saw APE step in to help when equipment failure put a Queensland mine out of action.

The replacement part the mine desperately needed was stuck in Sydney, but Crawford and Cockbain had it delivered to Emerald within two hours.

“Agility and exceptional customer service are key to growth,” Crawford said. “A big part of that is having strong relationships built on trust.”

But saving the day isn’t the company’s only focus, Crawford and Cockbain are on a mission to weave long-term sustainable practices into the very fabric of the business.

The company incorporates refurbished and repurposed equipment into its solutions, reducing waste while ensuring efficiency and reliability.

“Andrew’s passion for repurposing equipment has turned a so-called ‘bad habit’ into a significant business opportunity,” Crawford said. “Sustainability isn’t just a value – it’s a necessity in today’s energy landscape.”
