As the world continues to embrace sustainability as a guiding principle, industries are actively seeking innovative solutions to meet the growing demands while minimising environmental impact.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the global copper mining sector, which plays a vital role in various industries. With this backdrop, the Copper to the World 2024 Conference & Exhibition stands as a pivotal event, set to take place on 18 – 19 June 2024 in the city of Adelaide, South Australia.

A vision for the future

In partnership with the South Australian Government, the Copper to the World Conference embodies a bold vision to position South Australia as a global leader in copper production by 2030. With the aim to triple South Australia’s copper production to one million tonnes per annum (mtpa), this ambitious initiative underscores the region’s commitment to sustainable economic growth and environmental stewardship. Through strategic investments in exploration, innovation and infrastructure, South Australia seeks to leverage its abundant copper resources to drive economic prosperity while addressing the global demand for this essential metal.

Industry insights and collaboration

At the heart of the Copper to the World Conference is a commitment to fostering collaboration and sharing industry insights. Gathering industry leaders, experts and governmental bodies from around the world, the conference serves as a nexus for knowledge exchange and partnership formation. Keynote addresses from distinguished figures such as BHP — the principal partner of the conference — will offer strategic insights into the future of copper mining, emphasising the importance of collaboration, innovation and sustainability in shaping the industry’s trajectory.

Global perspectives, local solutions

Featuring presentations from renowned international mining organisations, including BHP, Rio Tinto, Codelco, Freeport McMoran and Antamina, the conference offers unique insights into sustainable mining practices, technological innovations and regulatory frameworks. Attendees will gain actionable strategies to enhance operational efficiency and environmental performance, tailored to local contexts and global challenges.

Networking opportunities

Beyond informative sessions, attendees will have ample networking opportunities to connect with industry leaders, forge new partnerships and exchange ideas. From the opening networking event on the exhibition floor to the networking sessions with live music and cooking stations, participants can engage in meaningful conversations and collaborations. In 2024, the conference introduces a new App, providing delegates with interactive networking features, facilitating connections and knowledge-sharing beyond the confines of the conference venue.

Embracing innovation

Central to the Copper to the World Conference is the celebration of innovation across the copper mining value chain. The exhibition floor will showcase cutting-edge solutions, products and services from industry leaders at the forefront of technological innovation. From exploration and extraction to processing and environmental management, exhibitors will unveil the latest advancements driving efficiency, sustainability and safety in the industry. Dedicated sessions on emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, automation and digitalisation will provide attendees with insights into the future of copper mining operations.

Leading industry participants

In addition to BHP, several other leading industry participants will be part of the conference program. These include: Hatch, Rockwell Automation, Accenture, Dyno Nobel, Aeris Resources, EnviroCopper, Newmont Australia, Rex Minerals, Dell Technologies, MMG Limited, Ok Tedi Mining, Hillgrove Resources, The Copper Mark, 29 Metals, CRU Group and CSIRO with more expected to be announced soon.
