In the world of asset management, a good idea is only as valuable as its application.
Recently, CQUniversity’s Asset and Maintenance Management team received national recognition for doing exactly that: turning complex research into not only a feasible business model, but an award-winning proposition. Led by CQU Senior Lecturer Dr Muralitheran Kanagarajoo, the team won ‘Best Business Model’ at the inaugural Your Entrepreneurs Scheme (YES) Australia competition.
Their winning project was a tool that uses artificial intelligence to simplify how companies measure their asset maturity. Normally, these assessments are slow and expensive; CQU’s model makes them faster and more accurate.
Designed to align with major global standards, including ISO 55001, 31000, 45001, and GFMAM frameworks, the solution supports the governance and optimisation of asset-intensive environments, common across mine sites.
CQU student and participant Philip Sage said participating in the YES Australia program was an invaluable experience.
“Learning from global venture capital experts over eight weeks and ultimately winning the pitch competition validated both our asset management solution’s business model and our team’s ability to articulate its value proposition to investors,” Sage said.
It’s just one example of industry relevance and real-world application, with CQU’s postgraduate Asset and Maintenance Management courses consistently in high demand among those looking to formalise their experience and advance in the field.
