Darwin has hosted the Developing Northern Australia Conference at the Darwin Convention Centre between 24-26 July, which gathered industry leaders from across northern Australia to advance economic and social development.
The annual conference brings together over 550 leaders, decision makers and industry representatives to gain insight into investment opportunities, new projects and policy initiatives for the betterment of northern Australia.
2023’s theme is Leading the Way: Empowering Northern Australia Business and Industry for Growth and Innovation.
The Territory is central to the northern Australia agenda and has significant resources, proximity to massive markets, a strong agriculture sector and opportunities in critical minerals and renewable energy.
Hosting the conference is also set to provide a boost to the Darwin economy, with estimated delegate expenditure of almost $1.4 million.
Minister for Northern Australia and Trade, Nicole Manison, said that the Northern Territory is a trailblazer in terms of its ability to lead infrastructure and investment commitments that will benefit the whole of northern Australia.
“Working together with our northern Australia counterparts, gives us the best chance to grab opportunities for the betterment of Territorians and Australians alike.
“The Territory is critical for the future of energy security for Australia, and will play an important role as the world switches to renewables – this conference helps put us on the map.”
