In 2022, the Movember mining community raised an incredible $1.4 million for men’s health, thanks to thousands of Movember supporters across the industry. It was an outstanding effort from the community at large; having fun, doing good.
The annual Movember Mining Challenge is the time to dig into men’s health awareness while competing for fundraising glory against names big and small across the minerals and resources sector.
Since 2003, Movember has built a global men’s health movement, funding more than 1,300 projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men. Movember is taking on three of the biggest health issues affecting men; mental health and suicide, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.
The Movember team said it is thanks to incredible Mo communities like those across the mining industry that Movember has been able to invest in more than 600 biomedical research projects focusing on prostate and testicular cancers, and fund four prostate cancer registries with more than 200,000 men enrolled from 23 countries. Since taking on mental health and suicide as a cause area in 2006, Movember has united experts, funded bold new approaches and embraced fresh perspectives, focusing on prevention, early intervention, and health promotion through a male lens.
Yet, according to the team, there’s still more to be done. The mining industry can unite and take on mental health, suicide, prostate cancer and testicular cancer and change the face of men’s health.
