Liontown Resources has announced that it has appointed a new General Manager of Operations to its Kathleen Valley Lithium Project.
Aaron Nankivell has been appointed to the role and brings a wealth of experience, with a background in underground mining and knowledge of operational readiness and preparedness.
Mr Nankivell’s appointment comes well ahead of project start-up, which is on schedule for first production mid-2024.
As General Manager of Operations, Mr Nankivell will oversee and lead all site operational activities including mining, processing, ESG and administration.
Liontown has said that Mr Nankivell’s background and extensive experience in underground mining and in operating in a Western Australian mining environment make him a strong fit for this pivotal role.
Liontown said that Mr Nankivell’s early appointment underscores its approach to delivering the project, which is based on disciplined early planning.
Liontown has already recruited a skilled processing team, including a Process Manager Lead, Mechanical Lead, Mining Manager Lead, Processing Coordinator, Processing Superintendent, Processing Supervisor, and Senior Metallurgists. The processing team joined the already established mining team on site and have commenced preparation works, eight to nine months ahead of first production.
