Northern Territory Deputy Chief Minister, Nicole Manison, has headed to South Korea as part of an energy and resources trade mission, following a series of productive meetings with companies, financiers and government representatives in Tokyo.
The trip comes as the Northern Territory Government looks to grow opportunities for trade with South Korea, focusing on critical minerals and renewable technologies.
South Korea is one of the Northern Territory’s major trading partners, but as a country with a huge appetite for technological advancement, there is certainty that this partnership can grow and flourish.
The face-to-face engagement will strengthen relationships and grow opportunities for trade, with the minister determined to rebuild strong ties.
The purpose of this trip is to re-establish strong relationships with potential investors into critical minerals developments and the Territory’s energy sector with the Northern Territory’s capacity to provide critical minerals for renewable energy, battery storage and high-tech industries of significant interest in Asia.
Engagements will include direct meetings with potential investors along with facilitated networking events to highlight the opportunities in the Northern Territory.
Northern Territory Deputy Chief Minister, Nicole Manison, said, “The Northern Territory’s message in Tokyo was received with significant interest – we are open for business, committed to facilitating investment and have the resources to provide energy security.
“In South Korea, the opportunity will be taken to deliver the same message and to reset and rebuild our trade relationship with this really important partner.
“This is about bringing new business to the Territory and growing our economy to $40 billion by 2030, while playing a major role in the world’s energy transition.”
