Bravus Mining and Resources has announced Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia as a recipient of its Community Partnership Program, ensuring seriously ill North Queensland children and their families will continue to have a home away from home at Townsville University Hospital.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room provides an invaluable in-hospital kitchen, laundry, play, and other facilities to families of children receiving inpatient or outpatient care, with more than 22,000 people utilising the Ronald McDonald Family Room in Townsville in 2021.
Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia CEO, Tamara South, said, “Local families turn to us in times of great need, and it’s with thanks to our incredible community of supporters and generous contributions like that from Bravus Mining and Resources, that we are well placed to care for families when they need it most.”
Bravus Mining and Resources Chief Operating Officer, Mick Crowe, said the team was delighted to be able to support such an important service for regional Queenslanders.
“No parent or guardian likes seeing their child unwell, and those difficult circumstances are made all that much tougher when you’re a long way from the comforts of home,” Mr Crowe said.
“In regional Queensland that ‘long way’ can mean hundreds and hundreds of kilometres and that’s why we think it’s so important to support the service the Ronald McDonald Family Room provides.
“There, families can enjoy a home-cooked meal together, freshen up with a shower, and do a load of washing – all while being only moments away from their child’s hospital room.
“We hope it’s a service your family never needs but we’re glad to help make it available if you do.”
Mr Crowe said applications for the final round of funding for the 2022 Bravus Mining and Resources Community Partnerships Program were now open.
“What we do is create jobs and prosperity for Queenslanders by safely and responsibly mining high-quality coal for export to countries that want to lift their people out of energy poverty,” Mr Crowe said.
“Our people are enormously proud of the job they do. But they are also proud that through their hard work we are able to support not-for-profit organisations and community groups like Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia to provide opportunities locals wouldn’t otherwise have.”
Applications for the Community Partnership Program close on 1 December 2022, with clear guidelines and criteria that initiatives or events must meet.
