Western Australia’s mining industry has been confirmed as “already leading the future” following the WA Mining Conference and Exhibition (WA Mining) 2025 – which proved to be the epicentre of collaboration and innovation.
More than 5500 delegates poured through the doors across the two-day event at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, highlighting the event’s growing status as a key gathering for the mining, METS, and resources sectors.
At the event, keynote speakers such as Mines and Petroleum Minister David Michael highlighted the strategic priorities of the state’s resources industry going forward – building upon the already impressive $223 billion in sales last year.
“Mining is more than just a pillar of our economy,” Michael said. “It’s a platform for innovation, a driver of development, and a force for global change – especially in this era of decarbonisation and energy transition.”
Building on this vision, other speakers emphasised the importance of inclusion and sustainable growth – such as Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration deputy director general resource and environmental regulation Andrew Chaplyn reaffirming the need to diversify the industry to unlock greater development.
“It’s very important that when we are doing those negotiations and discussions, that we respectfully understand cultures and how we work through those processes,” he said.
Underscoring this was a packed show floor of exhibitors and a jam-packed conference program – from spotlight sessions highlighting the innovative work of mining companies across the country to panel discussions putting WA firmly at the centre of the future of mining through innovation and a wave of upcoming projects.
Over 150 companies demonstrated technologies tackling real-world mining challenges with industry leaders showcasing their plans for the future.
Fortescue reaffirmed their purpose to accelerate decarbonisation on a global scale with Tesla preparing to roll out fully electric fleets to mines across Australia.
WA Mining show director Rebecca Todesco thanked attendees and sponsors for their support, confirming this year’s event had set the standard for future editions.
“This year’s turnout and calibre of discussion exceeded all expectations,” Todesco said.
“WA Mining 2025 has proven that the mining industry in Western Australia is not only ready for the future, it’s already leading it.”
