The 2024 WA Mining Conference and Exhibition has officially commenced at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, with Western Australian Minister for Mines and Petroleum, David Michael, welcoming attendees to the event.
“There is much to be excited about in Western Australia’s mining sector,” Mr Michael said.
“It is clear from the breadth of topics on the agenda that the sector remains strong and there are opportunities on the horizon.
“Tech in the Western Australian mining sector has been applied to a range of industries and regions worldwide. The continued innovation we see is crucial as companies and governments seek solutions and adapt to climate change.”
Mr Michael referenced the state’s crucial role in resources innovation and the critical part it plays in helping Australia decarbonise.
“Western Australia is already well established as a global resources leader, and this will continue to grow into the future.
“Exploration is vital as we future proof the resources sector.”
Mr Michael said that the Western Australia Government is committed to reaching net zero by 2050 and is striving towards a sustainable resources sector.
“The Western Australian mining industry is providing the building blocks for global decarbonisation.
“This is an investment in our future.”
