Winner of 2022 Victorian Women in Resources Awards announced

The Minerals Council of Australia (MCA) has announced the winners of the Victoria’s 2022 Women in Resources Awards.

The awards recognise Victorian women in the mining industry for their career achievements, advocacy of women, and contribution to social licence and the community.

Award winners are champions for greater diversity in the minerals industry.

Senior managers in community engagement and human resources, an exploration geologist, underground operator and a superintendent in data science have taken out the top honours in 2022.

Award winners cover the diverse range of jobs in mining, from traditional trades roles to community engagement, earth sciences and digital technology roles in regional mining operations and headquarters in Melbourne.

2022 Victorian Women in Resources Award Winners are:

Exceptional Woman in Victorian Resources

Lisa Gibbons, General Manager, Southern Cross Gold

Felicia Binks, Director Environment and Government Relations, Agnico Eagle

Exceptional Young Woman in Victorian Resources

Claudia Bowman, Exploration Geologist, Agnico Eagle Fosterville

Melanie Richards, Underground Operator, Stawell Gold Mines – Highly Commended Award

Technological Innovation Award

Gemma McGoldrick, Superintendent – Digital Squads, Newcrest Mining

Inclusion and Gender Diversity Champion

Vivian Simonelli, Managing Partner and Principal Executive Search Consultant, Ellis King.

The Victorian winners will progress to the National Women in Resources National Awards.

The awards are an initiative of MCA Victoria, with the support of Women in Mining and Resources Network Victoria.
