Five mining and technology companies have received funding to grow their business at the Thinking Critical SA awards.
Both local and international companies were amongst the winners, who will receive a portion of a $250,000 prize pool and support from leading industry bodies to grow their ideas.
The competition was a global online crowdsourcing challenge established by the South Australian Government in an effort to turn the state into a world-class critical minerals hub.
Some of the world’s leading thinkers in mining were invited to present innovative ideas that would boost the state’s critical minerals sector and burgeoning ecosystem.
Entrepreneurs and businesses from 31 countries participated in the competition, with the following entrants announced as the winners:
- NDB Inc. – redefining and revolutionising the battery as we know it with innovative energy generator and storage
- CBSM Mining Services Pty Ltd – building innovative dry and wet comminution technology for the global mining, cement and waste industries
- Rockburst Technologies Inc. – developing a novel mining comminution process designed to significantly reduce energy and GHG emissions
- QL Space – developing disruptive new space technology to transform the sector through remote sensing satellites, sensors, data, and deep learning (AI+ML)
- Scantech International – developing a broad range of industrial instrumentation utilising various measurement technologies, including microwave methods
These companies will now work with the State Government’s Department of Energy and Mining (DEM) to implement their ideas for growth and development.
